EXT. PEPPERDINE MAIN DRIVE -- DAY

The four-story administration building looms over you, looking even taller because of how far up the steep drive the building is. Most of the front of the building is glass, reflecting the 180-degree expanse of ocean below the campus. If you look over your shoulder, you have a postcard view of the village of Malibu, all stucco, orange roof tiles, and palm trees.

There are dense thickets of bushes on the slope above the road, and below the road are acres of lush green lawn, spilling down toward Pacific Coast Highway and the ocean. Several men with tools work on rose bushes nearby. A small white Toyota pick-up is parked on the sidewalk.
