The guard gives you a friendly wave as you pass. Ahead of you, Pacific Coast Highway sends shimmering waves of heat back up toward the southern Californian sun. A left-hand turn will take you south, down into the village of Malibu. A right-hand turn will take you north, toward Malibu Colony and Zuma Beach.
