EXT. STREET ENTRANCE -- DAY

Bright orange signs line the median of Pacific Coast Highway: ZUMA BEACH PARKING. All of the street parking was taken by crack-of-dawn surfers; looks like you're going to have to use the pay parking. With that detail worked out in your hand, you have a chance to focus on the beach itself.

The huge expanse of sand stretches almost as far as you can see, the ends marked by tall stone cliffs. The cliff edges are dotted with orange-tile-roofed homes. Thousands of people are walking or sitting on the beach, with many of the younger kids seem clustered around the playgrounds and volleyball courts at the south end of the beach.

A short Hispanic guy with a big smile reaches for your five-spot as you roll up. "Welcome to Malibu." The bar goes up, and you drive into the Zuma Beach parking lot.

There is open parking near the orange-painted lifeguard headquarters.
