EXT. PATIO -- DAY
Somebody went to great effort to make a large patio: the law school is curved around the back of the concrete slab, and the front edge of the patio is a vertical cliff plunging down into a dense thicket of brown, native-Californian shrubbery. You could park a few large tanks in the middle.
A yawning view of the ocean, Santa Monica, the Catalina Islands, and a hundred miles of southern Californian coastline spreads out beyond the patio. Sightseers and school visitors are clustered along the wood railing. There are a number of disheveled law students slumped over books at the small tables nearby.
The ocean-side entrance to the law school comes onto the patio near the study tables. Not far from the entrance, the concrete steps down to the emergency exit disappear under the patio.
The footpath and chained-off vehicle entrance from the university drive come into the patio on one side.
